Loving Care for Your Family Pets, in your home, where they are most
comfortable.
Experienced in all inside and outside animals.
Obedience Training:
Beginner; intermediate, American
Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen; advanced, (off-leash); and
Delta Pet Partners Team Training and
Evaluation.
We use balanced training methods for all levels of obedience
training. Why? Because we use the method that works for YOUR dog.
Our only goal is a trained dog.
I will not be training your dog, I will be the instructor who will
guide you thru the process of teaching your dog desirable behaviors.
Since dogs do not generalize well - obedience taught to your dog by
me, would not necessarily transfer to you or another handler. I get
complaint after complaint, “I sent my dog to be trained and he does
nothing for me but sit”. I set clear goals for all my classes, which
are as follows:
I STRIVE TO:
-
Provide you with a working
understanding of how your dog learns, by doing so, your dog will
learn manners and good behavior that will last the lifetime of your
dog.
-
Help you understand that dogs and
handlers speak an entirely different language so you will “see” the
world thru your dog’s eyes;
-
Help you bond with your dog, the
relationship between you and your dog is vital to the dog’s
behavior;
-
Mentally stimulate your dog, balanced
training will help the dog to “think”, and you will see your dog
thinking and offering behaviors because your furry friend has
thought it through. Once the dog understands the process you will be
amazed at how quickly and easily the dog will learn; and
-
To socialize your dog. Dogs, like
people, are not born knowing the different types of people and
animals that make up their surroundings. You will learn how to
practice with your dog in the “real world” one step at a time, you
will work in a “low level activity area” and gradually increase your
training periods to “high level activity areas.”
Additionally, I provide individual
attention to each canine and handler. I provide lots of handouts
outlining each lesson for easy referral, but the instructor is only
a phone call away!
So now you ask yourself, why balanced training?
The answer is simple, each breed is different and as such learn
differently. Each dog has a personality and behavior traits unique
to their breed. So training is designed with these things in mind.
Most handlers are stunned to leave my classes on the first night -
their dog has learned to sit; down; stay; come; loose lead walk;
heel; take it; leave it and target - and it took one and a half
hours to learn all of that!
Balanced training does work because it is designed for each dog.
Okay, now you’re intrigued and a little worried. Ah - treats are the
secret! Sometimes, during the learning process, but the treats will
be faded out and replaced with something your dog craves even more -
YOU!!! Sound too simple? Yes, but it works!
Besides the training handouts you will receive, starting with week
two, a sheet filled with helpful hints on teaching your dog tricks.
You and your (by then, Best Buddy) will practice these on your own.
The payoff is graduation night - you can select the tricks you like
and show them to the class and your family and friends at your
graduation party.
Yes, a party! Why not, you have both earned it! You will also get a
great Certificate of Graduation, frame it and hang it for all to
see!
