ABOUT US

Puddin Hill Obedience Training and Pet Sitters has only one goal - to give the best training and care to every animal we come in contact with, anytime and anywhere. As the Owner and Director of Training, Gayle Justice, has consistently loved animals all her life.

She and her husband Walter, live in harmony and peace with 5 English Bulldogs, namely Sir Winston Churchill of Justice; Brutus, Caesar's Worst Nightmare; Ms. Jubie; Mr. Rocko and Ms. Roxy; 7 German Shepherd Dogs, Maxie; Nala; Tara; Maverick; Chief; Viper and Rhett; 4 cats, Socks; Boots; Sasha and Priscilla; and 2 Moluccan cockatoos, Alex and Max, 2 Blue and Gold Macaws, Sidney and Max; 3 African Greys, Popeye, Marta, and Sam; 1 Quaker Parrot, Tilly; 2 Sun Conures, Sunrise and Salsa; and 1 Sulphur Crested Cockatoo named Bailey. Seems like a zoo, doesn’t it? But they wouldn’t have it any other way. Over the years they have owned everything from horses to goldfish, and loved each and every one of them.

Because it is the belief that every animal has merit and a place in our world, Puddin Hill strives to put a loving touch on every animal they are lucky to come into contact with - whether it be theirs or someone else’s. Over the years many animals have come and gone, brought in as babies and leaving into God’s open hands, now residing at the Rainbow Bridge where they await their owners. All loved and never forgotten. Some sought temporary residence while waiting for their forever home and last but not least, there are always animals coming and going while their owners are on vacation and business trips. All of them staying in the warmth of a family home where they find love and attention and new playmates.

Because of this passion for animals, Puddin Hill Obedience Training and Pet Sitters was born, to provide the same services for animals that Gayle and her husband Walter would like to have for their animals - should the need arise.
Training is passion, Gayle instructs the handlers in training their precious dogs! Gayle has always trained every dog she has ever owned, some came to her as aggressive animals who had no place to go. A kind word and a loving touch was all that was needed to turn those loving canines into obedient companions. How could they be anything else, they have to live with birds and cats and guests, lots of guests! So for over 30 years Gayle has worked with dogs, perfecting just the right kind of training. Gayle uses balanced methods only - she instructs her handlers to communicate with their furry friends, to bond with the animals who share their space. But most importantly to teach the animal to think about their own behavior and present it to their handlers in an obedient manner. But the proof is in the classes, watching the dogs master simple commands in basic obedience in the very first class. Gayle is always at the heart of the class, loving each animal and handler who enter her door and eager to watch them learn the methods which will equate to an obedient companion.

The shelters are full of animals with behavior problems, some have had some training, but without the right training and an owner that cares, they become disposable pets. So Gayle keeps the cost of her classes low, to encourage pet owners to find a loving option to their canine’s behavior problems. Dogs really want to please their owners, they jump, chew, potty in the house, nip, runaway in playful abandon when called. Owners mistakenly believe that the animal does this because they are a “bad dog” when in truth, they are interacting with their owners to gain attention - and it works! But it can also get them taken to the local shelter. How puzzling this must be to the dog, not to mention frightening! Most owners expect their dogs to behave because they tell them too, but they never show them what they want, they never come down to the dog’s level, or see the world thru the dog’s eyes. Tragic for the dog and frustrating for the handler.

Gayle’s life is animals, all kinds - big and small, they get respect, love and training - whether it is dog training classes or pet sitting. It’s a way of life, the way it should be for every animal on this planet.

Gayle is two term Past President of the Dallas Bird Club, Inc.; President of Partners with Paws, a Delta Certified Pet Therapy Group; a licensed instructor and evaluator for the Delta Society; a Certified No Limitations Remote Collar Specialist; as well as owner and Director of Training for Puddin Hill Obedience Training and Pet Sitters.
